Mom comes home. Owen: "Did you bring me a present?" Mom: "Just me." Owen (whining): "Awwww." Dad comes home. Owen: "Did you bring me a present?" Dad: "Just this cheesecake." Owen: "Now THAT'S a present."

As I was backing out of the garage today....

Owen: Dad, can I watch a movie on the way to school?
me: No it's a short trip, Let's just visit. We could
talk about Noah and Hudson.
Owen: No dad.
me: We could talk about Ms. Lisa.
Owen: No dad.
me: We could talk about the pirate ship at your school.
Owen: Dad let's just calm down, calm down (emphasized with palms-down hand gestures)

Then he became Alvin and I became Dave.

Owen's ant farm

So keeping the blog updated was harder than I thought.

Owen got a NASA approved ant farm at his birthday party last night. And the ants were in the mail when we checked last night, so Uncle Scott (the godfather) got the ants loaded. Owen took the ants to bed with him, and when he woke up, the and had made five vertical tunnels. While we ate breakfast, the made to horizontal connecting tunnels. There have been some ant casualties but no escapes.

Ketch shows off his new dragon

Here's a clip of Ketch sitting in his chair with his new toy. Not necessarily riveting video, but I thought I'd share.

Owen gets goggles and swim fins

Owen got some goggles and swim fins to help keep his interest in his weekly swimming lessons. We tried them out in the tub tonight. Oh yeah, they were a hit.

Tough to keep the camera dry on this shot.

Owen's first day of (pre)school

Owen's going to preschool on Tuesday and Thursday mornings this fall. He seemed to take it in stride...no big deal. Here's Owen and Ketch just about to jump into Kelly's car for the ride to the first day of preschool. You'll notice Owen's "say cheese" smile.

In this photo, Owen seems to have some awareness that he is beginning to squirm out from under his parent's constant and oppressive rule.
